(from Alter A.I.L.A Variant's GamePage on RMN by Neok - June 10th 2012)
Alter A.I.L.A. Variant takes place in a modern world, 3 years after the events of Alter A.I.L.A. Genesis. 2 years ago, a great war came to a decisive conclusion thanks to the efforts of a small band of people. Peace should have followed, but there are those who would choose to continue fighting. This is the continuation of that story.
The battle system revolves mainly around each character's Abilities, which are a set of commands specific to that character. Abilities require AP and EX to use. AP is gained every time a character takes a turn. The default is 2. EX is gained every time a character uses an Ability. The default is 1. Note that this may change depending on the situation.

(Note: ...I wanted to wait for the right time to post this, but honestly there's never going to be a right time, so I thought I'd just get this out of the way quickly:)
...I was going through a list of games and realized this hasn't been on RMN for quite sometime. More so, because of RMN's server crash awhile back, most of the info regarding A.A.Variant's development has been lost as well.
Neok, if you're out there buddy, I want you to know you are a truly talented developer. If it were my site, I would never allow for what happened to you, to happen to anyone. Please keep fighting the good fight.
To everyone else, a word of caution, do not use RMN to gather feedback for your indie games - they are not game developers, they are hobbyist. They lack the work and creative experience to provide the adequate feedback that will you need, in order to prosper in your creative field.
I've seen many prominent, promising and even professional game developers, turn away and leave RMN for this very reason.
If you do decide to use RMN for gathering user feedback, know that it is an "internet community" first and foremost; RMN will not provide the necessary constructive criticism, you would receive from peers, teachers of fellow colleagues in order to advance.
I cannot stress this enough:
RMN is not an indie game making site.
RMN is an internet community.
Do not use RMN for feedback.

Thanks for posting this. Was really sad when I found the download for AAV taken down back then. Made sure to keep a bunch of backups of my copy of the demo should I ever want to play it again.
